Long -distance trains of the railway were somewhat punctual in January

In January, the train was as punctually as it has not been for almost a year. But the trains still don’t roll really reliably. Almost a third is too late.

In the long -distance traffic of the Deutsche Bahn, the trains were somewhat more punctual at the beginning of the year than last. Around 66.9 percent of ICE and IC trains arrived at the destination without any major delay, as the Deutsche Bahn announced. This is an improvement of 4 percentage points compared to January of the previous year. However, the union of German locomotive leaders (GDL) also paralyzed large parts of rail traffic in Germany with a strike several days.

This is why trains and passengers cannot be really satisfied. Almost a third of the trains were late in January. The railway takes up delays in the statistics from long -distance transport.

So -called traveling punctuality has also improved. It measures the proportion of passengers who arrived on the destination on time. In January that was 72.7 percent (previous year: 67.0 percent). Unlike operational punctuality, train cancellations are also included here. Delays are registered here from 15 minutes.

Deutsche Bahn has had a punctuality problem for years. In 2024, the quota was only 62.5 percent and therefore as low as it has not been in at least 20 years.

As the main reason for the high unreliability, the railway leads the numerous construction sites that are necessary as a result of the outdated and overloaded infrastructure. The railway has launched a comprehensive renovation program with which it wants to get the operational as well as the economic situation under control. The so -called general renovation of busy routes is an essential part.
