P&C mother may take over fashion chain

The parent company of P&C Düsseldorf wants to take over the insolvent textile chain. The antitrust authority has now granted the release. However, the purchase is not yet over the stage.
The parent company of the fashion retailer Peek & Cloppenburg Düsseldorf (P&C) may take over the insolvent textile chain. The Federal Cartel Office announced this in a message.
The President of the Authority, Andreas Mundt, said about the decision: According to “Peek & Cloppenburg has a leading position in the field of inpatient textile retail.” By taking over, the company can further expand its market share in some cities. However, the investigation had shown that there would be enough alternative opportunities to consumers.
JC Switzerland Holding AG, which includes the P&C group, had recently made an offer for Sinn GmbH. The competitive keepers then initiated a merger control process. It is still open whether the takeover will come about. The fashion company submitted an application for bankruptcy in self -administration in August 2024. Business operations in most meaning fashion houses have continued since then.
Creditors decide in March
The believer meeting is expected to take place in March. Then the creditors coordinate about the bankruptcy plan and a possible sale. As was recently heard from industry circles, the current sense partner Isabella Göbel should also be interested in continuing the company.
According to the Bundeskartellamt, Sinn GmbH currently operates 35 locations in Germany, most in North Rhine-Westphalia. Some branches have already been closed or should soon be closed, said a spokesman for Sinn GmbH.
P&C Düsseldorf operates around 70 locations in Germany. The company had only completed a renovation process in autumn 2023. The fashion retailer, which also belongs to the chain Anson’s, must not be confused with Peek & Cloppenburg Hamburg, another company.
