Eight locations of the customer service in Germany are to be closed. The company refers to tightened competition, weak economy and changed contact behavior.

The Hamburg online retailer Otto releases around 480 call center employees. The company announced this today on request. Otto mentions the stricter competition, the persistently weak economy in Germany and the changed contact of the customers. The telephone contact loses importance. Otto Plant to close eight of the 13 locations of the customer service on August 31. The company therefore hires the locations Alzenau, Bad Salzuflen, Bochum, Niederzier, Kassel, Leipzig, Stuttgart, Nuremberg. Customer service remains in Magdeburg, Neubrandenburg, Hamburg, Dresden and Erfurt with around 700 employees. There are also external partners.

Otto announced that they offer severance payments to the employees concerned or a switch to a transfer company.
