The tariff conflict at the post continues to circles, warning strikes meet again the delivery of letters and packages. The union puts pressure.
A tenth of the letters and packages that were supposed to be delivered by post office on Friday have remained there for the time being due to a warning strike. The outstanding in all regions in Germany concerned the letter, package and composite delivery, as the Bonn company announced. “Therefore, there may be delays today and tomorrow when collection and delivery of letter and parcel shipments.”
A postal employee explains both letters and packages when delivering the composite. A total of 7,700 employees followed Verdi’s strike call call on Friday. The programs that were initially left would be delivered in the coming days.
7 percent or 1.8 percent more wages for postal employees?
In the past few weeks, Verdi has repeatedly called up to warning strikes to increase the pressure on the employer side in the collective bargaining. Consumers were most likely to feel the industrial action last Wednesday when a quarter of the package amount could not be transported as planned. The warning strikes should continue on Saturday. On Monday, the fourth round of negotiations will be in the tariff discussions.
The gap between the positions is still large: Verdi demands seven percent higher fees in a twelve -month collective agreement for the approximately 170,000 posters, postmen and other logistics staff. The post, which belongs to DHL, offers a plus in a 27 -month contract by 1.8 percent and later by a further 2.0 percent. This is completely inadequate, says Verdi-Vice Andrea Kocsis. “The colleagues with their warning strikes in the companies show that they expect significantly more from their employer.” The trade unionist demands an offer that is unable to reach.
In addition, Verdi is strong for three extra vacation days to take the increased workload into account. If you are a Verdi member, you should even get four. In turn, the post only offers an extra vacation day for employees who have less than 30 vacation days a year-around two thirds of the workforce.
Post emphasizes that the collective agreement must be economically justifiable. The scope for wage increases is low in the face of high investment costs and a letter in the digital age.
