An outbreak of the mouth and claw disease in Brandenburg hit the business with German agricultural exports hard. Now there is a relaxation.
After the appearance of the mouth and claw disease in Germany, an important international trade lock has been lifted. According to China, exporting heat -treated milk and milk products that come from outside the restricted zone are possible again, as the Federal Ministry of Agriculture announced. Department chief Cem Özdemir (Greens) said: “With China we have one of the largest and most important markets on board for our milk products.” Communication with China is a real breakthrough and will help many companies gradually go back into standard operation.
At the beginning of January, the outbreak of mouth and claw disease in Germany had occurred in Brandenburg for the first time in more than 35 years. Some countries outside the EU then imposed imports for meat and milk from all over the Federal Republic. In the EU, on the other hand, the principle of regionalization – products from outside the protection zone around the affected company can be traded normally.
On the basis of this regionalization, negotiations with China have now managed to coordinate a new version of a veterinary certificate, the ministry said. The Chinese main customs office is now taking heat -treated milk and milk products from the trade lock. About a quarter of German milk exports outside the EU go to China.
