On what day is the pension transferred to the account?
Every month, millions of pensioners receive their pension to the account. The pension insurance has precisely determined on which day the money is transferred.
What is the monthly payments for employees is the payment of the statutory pension for pensioners. This is also transferred to the account every month – instead of the employer, the money comes from the German pension insurance. But when exactly does the pension actually end up in the bank account?
In fact, the date of the monthly pension payment is precisely determined. “Your pension will be paid out on the last banking day of the month for which the pension is intended,” writes the German pension insurance in its “Tips for Pensioners”. The pension for January will be transferred to January at the end of January. Bank working days are generally Monday to Friday unless it is a bank holiday. Saturday and Sunday are not banking days.
In some cases, however, the pension is also paid in advance: If the pension began before April 2004, the transfer will take place on the last banking day of the previous month for which the pension is intended. The same applies to survivor’s pensions that seamlessly connect to such a pension, explains the pension insurance. The pension for January will then be transferred in December.
Pension comes from the Pension Service of Swiss Post
The transfer takes place by the Deutsche Post pension service. This acts on behalf of the German Pension Insurance and is also responsible for adjustments to the pension payments and sending pension adjustment notifications. Therefore, pensioners must inform the pension service if the address or the account connection changes. This goes online on the pension service or by post.
Incidentally, there is no precise time for the transfer of the pension. In theory, the bank has time until 11:59 p.m. on the last banking day of the month to write the pension payment to the account of the pension recipient, according to this at the post office service.
