News or inflation? From April, Coca-Cola will also be available in a 0.85 liter bottle. The unusual size is said to have nothing to do with shrink flation.
The Coca-Cola group has come up with something new for the German market. From April there will also be the manufacturer’s sweet drinks in a 0.85-liter PET bottle. The varieties Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Fanta, Sprite and Mezzo Mix will be available in the new bottle size. After 17 years, it was the first new PET immobilia bottle with more than 0.5 liters of content in Germany.
In order to be able to produce the new bottle size, Coca-Cola has converted three German works for 1.5 million euros. The 0.85-liter bottle will in future be filled at the Knetzgau locations (Lower Franconia), Genshagen (Brandenburg) and in Dorsten (North Rhine-Westphalia). “The initial fulfillment started without any problems,” Coca-Cola quotes the manager of the plant in Knetzgau. In other works, the mood is likely to be worse, Coca-Cola recently announced that five German locations are tightened.

Why a new Coca-Cola size?
But why all the effort? After all, there are already PET bottles with 0.5 liters and those with 1 liter of content. Who needs such an oblique intermediate size? Coca-Cola justifies the step with the increasing number of smaller households in Germany. “We see a trend in carbonated soft drinks towards smaller package sizes,” says Arne Koslowski, manager at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Germany.
The Mogel packing experts from the consumer advice center should be located: Such reasons regularly lead manufacturers to conceal hidden price increases. Coca-Cola is therefore trying to counter the impression that the packaging innovation is about shrinkflation. The non-binding price recommendation for the 0.85-liter bottle is “significantly below that of the 1-liter PET bottle,” explains the group. At what price the weird new bottle size is actually sold in the shop, you will soon see.
