The global need for energy is increasing faster. Very banal household appliances also have their share in this.
Climate systems and other power guzzlers have increased the global energy requirement above average last year. The energy requirement increased primarily because of the demand for electricity, which increased by 4.3 percent compared to the previous year, as the International Energy Agency (IEA) announced in Paris. The increase is almost twice as high as on average of the past ten years.
Climate systems are a main driver
As a main reason for the 1,100 terawatt hours higher demand for electricity, the experts made the use of air conditioning systems, especially because of extreme heat in India and China. Flow and developing countries made up more than four fifths of the absolute energy growth.
The new need was primarily covered by renewable energy sources and natural gas. Other fossil fuels such as coal and oil also increased, but more slowly than in previous years. The nuclear power is also experiencing a kind of renaissance: six new Meiler have been completed, two in China alone. The newly installed performance was one third higher than in the previous year.
