Do the employees in Germany still believe in their own business location? According to a survey, a majority sees a sunken competitiveness. The younger ones are a little more positive.
Many employees see the business location of Germany critically. More than half of the employees (56 percent) believe that competitiveness in Germany has deteriorated in the past five years. This emerges from the current job study by the exam and consulting company EY. According to their own statements, more than 2,000 employees in Germany were asked by an independent market research institute in Germany.
Accordingly, only twelve percent of those surveyed believed that competitiveness had improved. Almost a third did not see an improvement or deterioration.
In addition, the respondents assessed the future viability of Germany as a rather negative (43 percent) or very negative (9 percent). However, almost half of the employees rated the future viability rather positive (39 percent) or very positive (nine percent).
Younger employees positive
Younger employees up to 35 years looked much more positively at the location of the location than those between 36 and 65 years. Almost 60 percent of the younger ones rated the future viability positively. The 36- to 65-year-olds were only 43 percent.
“If more than 50 percent of the employees question the future viability of the domestic business location, this must give you thinking,” said Jan-Rainer Hinz, member of the management and head of staff at EY, according to EY. Germany’s industrial company was unquestionable with great tasks that an upswing is not in sight and the geopolitical situation is extremely tense.
“Fear is a bad guide”
“However, fear is a bad guide,” said Hinz. And there are also reasons for confidence. “Therefore, it gives hope that the young employees in particular do not put their heads into the sand, but their trust in the domestic business location is above average,” said Hinz. Motivated and top -trained employees could make a decisive contribution to making the location back forward.
The greatest weaknesses in Germany cited the employed bureaucracy, high energy costs and the shortage of skilled workers. On the other hand, they saw the greatest strengths in qualified workers, high quality of life and stable political framework.
