US media: Hegseth shared military plans in chat with his wife

Weeks ago, a group chat made headlines in the United States. Media now report on another incident.

US defense minister Pete Hegseth, according to media reports, is said to have shared military plans in another group chat with his wife. The “New York Times”, citing several people familiar with the matter, reported that private chat at Signal, the politician had spread detailed information about attacks in Yemen in mid -March. Signal is a commercial communication app.

The US broadcaster CNN also reported on insiders about the group chat. According to the media reports, Hegseth’s wife does not work for the Ministry of Defense. Hegseth’s brother and his personal lawyer are said to have been chat members – both have jobs in the Pentagon.

Connection to the earlier chat affair

The case follows the affair about a secret group chat of high -ranking government members. At the end of March, the US magazine “The Atlantic” made the content of the chat publicly after his editor -in -chief – probably accidentally – had been invited to the Signal Group by the national security consultant Mike Waltz. An investigation by the internal supervision of the US Department of Defense is already underway for this chat.

Members of the group chat were the top management heads on the national security of the United States: In addition to Hegseth, among others, Trump’s deputy JD Vance, Waltz, the head of the US foreign intelligence service CIA, John Ratcliffe, and the secret service coordinator Tulsi Gabbard. The chat dealt with a US military mission against the Huthi militia in Yemen in mid-March. Hegseth provided detailed information about weapons and attack times.

The internal supervision of the pentagon examines whether Hegseth inadmissibly shared operative plans for a US military mission against the Huthi militia in Yemen about the commercial app-and whether regulations on the secrecy and retention of government documents were met.

Hegseth is said to have created second chat himself

According to the “New York Times”, the second -known chat course is also said to have been with military plans in this context. Hegseth is said to have created the second chat himself. In January, around a dozen members from his personal and professional environment are said to have been part of the Signal Group – that is said to have been a defense minister before Hegseth’s swearing -in. He is said to have used the chat from his private phone.
