Survey: most important job and good salary

In view of the long -term economic doldries, many employees count tangible factors. According to a new survey, it does not matter whether the work makes sense.

According to a new survey, two traditional factors when choosing a job come to the fore in uncertain times: a safe job and a good salary. In contrast, extra services of the employer such as childcare or sports offers are far less important. And the question of whether the work also makes sense does not play a major role for many, as the consulting company Strategy & announced.

The company, which belongs to the auditing company PWC, had 1,000 employees between the ages of 18 and 65 in cooperation with the Appinio market research institute Appinio in cooperation with the Appinio market research institute. The participants should select the most important and most important criteria for them.

Work-life balance important for many younger people

In the first place of the most important factors, job security was 43 percent. A good salary (42 percent), work-life balance (41 percent) and “positive working environment” (38 percent) followed in places two to four. The latter includes various elements, including working atmosphere, appreciation and communication in the company.

The work-life balance- as stated by a number of employers when looking for young people or complained- is significantly more important for the younger generation than for the elderly: 45 percent of 18 to 24 year olds were among the most important criteria for them, but only 33 percent of the 55 to 65 year olds.

Town light on business trip – but also “benefits” and “purpose” rather insignificant

The most important factor, on the other hand, was the opportunity for a majority of 56 percent of the participants. However, according to the survey, additional offers of the company and meaningfulness of their own activity are less significant for many people in working life than often suspected: 29 percent declared the “benefit” to be the most important factor, 28 percent the “purpose”. In recent years, in the face of increasing shortage of skilled workers, the additional offers and meaningfulness of the job have been an issue in the HR departments of several companies and personnel consultations. In the survey, however, career opportunities and good transport connections of the employer also ended up in the back ranks.
