Two years ago he had to interrupt his appearance for a tourette boost: The Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi completed a surprise appearance at the Glastonbury Festival in England after his time.

It was his goal to be able to do exactly this, the 28-year-old said in front of tens of thousands of festival visitors on Friday evening. At X he wrote: “Glastonbury, it is so incredible to be here again, thank you for being able to be there.”

At the Glastonbury 2023, Capaldi partially failed in front of thousands during his song “Someone You Loved”. He then asked the audience to sing as loud as possible. The moment was emotionally stressful, but also united.

Lewis broke off his tour in 2023, fought with the effects of his Tourette disease and the resulting psychological problems, as his record label formulated. In a new song called “Survive”, Capaldi now tells the story of the obstacles that he overcame to return to life and on the big stage.

Capaldi had made his Tourette disease public in September 2022. The neurological disease leads to ticks in which people unintentionally carry out movements and sometimes give sounds or words.

So far there is no therapy, but the effects can be reduced with the help of specialists. Unlike in public, only a small part of those affected has the urge to say swear words.
