When her husband Helge Achenbach was convicted of art fraud on the Aldi family, it also meant her financial ruin. What does Dorothee Achenbach actually do?
Ms. Achenbach, everyone knows your laundry now. How does that feel?
Well, there is table linen, bed linen, dirty laundry – but most people associate it with other types of laundry, namely underwear. The title of my first book, “Everyone now knows my laundry”, was a bit sensational in this regard. What I meant to say is that house searches and bailiff visits are extremely intrusive. And he recalls that a lot of dirty laundry was washed in connection with the scandal.
How was that for you?
A lot has been written in the media. By describing everything from my point of view in two books, I have regained some of the sovereignty of interpretation.
