John Lydon released an emotional song and wants to represent Ireland at Eurovision

“Hawaii” is a song that recalls the trips that the punk icon and his partner made to the paradisiacal islands of the Pacific. It lasts three and a half minutes and has a light and nostalgic atmosphere, with instrumentation full of fragility.

The singer presented the single on his social networks, while announcing that it will be released in a limited edition of 7-inch vinyl at the end of the year, and anticipated the publication of a new album by PIL.

Besides, Lydon has announced his intentions to represent Ireland in the traditional Eurovision Song Contest in May, Irish broadcaster RTE announced on Monday.

PIL is one of six performers to choose who will defend the colors of Ireland in the song contest that this year is held in Liverpool, in the north of England.

The group, formed after the disbandment of the Sex Pistols in 1978, will meet their fate after a televised program in February in which they will perform against the other candidates, including the Irish band Wild Youth.

Lydon, 66, was born in London to Irish parents. Public Image Ltd has announced that he will perform the emotional song that the singer wrote in tribute to his wife Nora de él.

Ukraine won the Eurovision contest last year. Although the winning country usually hosts the event the following year, the organizers felt that they would not be able to do so due to the Russian invasion, so they decided to host the event in the UK, which came second and immediately offered their help to kyiv. The final will take place on May 13.
