The film adaptation of the play of the same name with Moritz Bleibtreu and Laura Tonke can currently be seen in cinemas. Bleibtreu plays Bobby, a car salesman who wants to be a comedian. On the day of his first appearance, there was a scandal with his wife Claudia (Tonke).
With gallows humor and self-mockery, he begins to ponder on stage, drawing some of his wisdom from “Caveman”, his alter ego from the Stone Age.
The audience likes it. Director and screenwriter Laura Lackmann (“Flawless Specimen”) delivers a lot of laughs. Fast-paced and always amusing, she tells of the pitfalls in relationships. Despite all the humor, the role models seem outdated. The women are collectors with a sense for decoration and clean caves, who constantly talk about feelings.
But aren’t relationships far more diverse today? Are there really still so many couples arguing about whether cleaning the house can be reconciled with being a man? There’s room for improvement there. (APA)
