Many know her from the teenage comedy “American Pie”: The US actress Jennifer Coolidge has now received an award – in the form of a golden pudding pot.
US actress Jennifer Coolidge (61) has been honored by the Harvard University theater group as “Woman of the Year” with the “Hasty Pudding” award.
Coolidge, known from “The White Lotus”, “American Pie” and “Legally Blonde”, accepted the award on Saturday evening (local time) in Cambridge, Massachusetts. On Thursday, fellow actor Bob Odenkirk (60, “Better Caul Saul”) was honored as “Man of the Year”.
Coolidge was greeted with a singing performance by the a cappella group The Harvard Krokodiloes. A street parade near campus followed, with the actress – donned in a fluffy pink hat – waving to the crowd that had gathered in Cambridge city center despite the freezing temperatures. The actual award ceremony then took place on the premises of the venerable university. For this, the students of the theater group appeared in traditional costumes. Dressed in costumes, wigs and glitter make-up, they presented Coolidge with the unusual trophy in the form of a gold-colored pudding pot.
The award has been given for “lasting and impressive contributions to the world of entertainment” since the 1950s. Last year Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman were honored. Past recipients include stars such as Halle Berry, Helen Mirren, Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds, Martin Scorsese, Robert de Niro, Harrison Ford and Tom Cruise.
