According to the US publisher Viking Books, Streisand tells “her own story about her life and her extraordinary career”, from her childhood in Brooklyn, to her first appearances in New York nightclubs, the breakthrough with her “Funny Girl” role and all other achievements.

The book is – like the author herself – “frank, funny, stubborn and charming,” it said. According to the publisher, Streisand will write about her friendship with actor Marlon Brando and politician Madeleine Albright, as well as her longtime marriage to actor James Brolin.

Streisand, who was born in Brooklyn, New York and now lives mainly in California, has enjoyed great success for many decades: more than 140 million albums sold, awards such as Oscars, Emmys, Grammys and Golden Globes and countless fans all over the world.
