Tennis star Angelique Kerber gave birth to her first child a few days ago. The athlete announced this on social media.
Angelique Kerber (35) became a mother for the first time a few days ago. : “Welcome to our family, Liana *02/25/2023”. Kerber added: “Having you with us is the most beautiful & overwhelming feeling we could have ever imagined.” She also posted a black and white picture showing the little one’s hands. Numerous congratulations can already be found in the comments section, including Kerber’s colleague Sabine Lisicki (33) with heart emojis and wrote “How great. All the best”.
In August 2022, Kerber canceled her participation in the US Open “for the best possible reason”. She had also made it public on Instagram that she was having her first baby. Although she wanted to take part, the tournament was simply unfair with “two against one”.
Planned comeback soon
Kerber’s tennis comeback was already being planned before her daughter was born. “I want to return as soon as possible,” she explained to “Stern” a few months ago. Colleagues like Serena Williams (41) have shown her that “being a mother and being high up in the world rankings are not mutually exclusive”.
