King Charles wants to ban the Sussexes from Windsor, the Sun reports. He terminates the contract for Frogmore Cottage. The second problem prince, Andrew, is said to downsize and give up his mansion in favor of the cottage.
Fed up with his problem princes, King Charles solves two problems with one harsh action. The Sun reports that he is demanding that the Sussexes vacate Frogmore Castle. The decision was made just a few days after Harry’s memoirs were published. With that, Harry and Meghan would lose their home in the UK. It is conceivable that they would rent or buy their own property out of their own pockets – but they would be banned from the immediate vicinity of the king. Frogmore Cottage is a ten minute walk from Kate and William’s new home, Adelaide Cottage.
In fact, the Sussexes are said to be planning to ship their cottage items to the US and have asked the court to take some of the furniture belonging to the house with them. An anonymous source told the newspaper: “This will certainly mark the end of Harry and Meghan’s time in the UK.” At the same time, the monarch has plans for the second problem prince, Andrew. The Duke of York is to vacate the Royal Lodge estate. As a replacement, he was offered the much smaller Frogmore Cottage. Prince Andrew is said not to be impressed by the new house, writes the “Sun”.
Lease not renewed
The insider said: “Andrew is reluctant to move into Frogmore Cottage after being offered it last week.”
“But it shows that Harry and Meghan are powerless to stop the eviction.” Harry and Meghan received the five-bedroom Frogmore Cottage from the Queen as a wedding gift in 2018, though not for their own, just for use. But the couple is said to have believed they could live there as long as they wanted. That they would always have a place to call home in the UK. The king apparently no longer feels bound by this agreement after the couple’s attacks on him, his wife Camilla and the heir to the throne William.
After an extensive and costly refurbishment, the couple used the cottage as their primary residence for just six months. Then the “Megxit” happened and they left Great Britain. Subsequently, Princess Eugenie and her partner moved into the house for a short time before moving to Portugal. In May 2022, Harry and Meghan last renewed their lease on the property. Apparently, the monarch has now made it clear that the contract will not be renewed this year.
No reconciliation before the coronation
Prince Andrew lives with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson at the nearby Royal Lodge and is said to be “resisting” a move. Charles plans to cut his brother’s £250,000-a-year royal allowance, which their mother had agreed to. The rent for the lodge is symbolic.
