Despite the general strike, Chanel showed its fashion show in Paris, which was all about the camellia blossom. Hundreds of guests came to the show, including superstars like Penélope Cruz.
Rien ne va plus: Nothing worked that Tuesday morning. General strike in Paris, eight major trade unions called for protests against the planned pension reform and paralyzed the city. Flights were cancelled, almost all metro trains were canceled and taxi costs skyrocketed. There was only one place where you didn’t notice much of it: the Grand Palais Éphémère. There Chanel had invited to present the new fashion for the fall. Bad timing? The luxury world shrugged. Since only a few guests would have taken the subway to this exclusive event anyway, caravans of black limousines rolled up as usual.
