At his entrance to the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, where at 9:00 p.m. the ceremony of the 95th edition of the Oscar Awards will begin, Ricardo Darín said that “the coin is in the air and we have to wait for it to fall.” referring to the chances of “Argentina 1985” to win the award for best foreign film.
Along with director Santiago Miter and co-star Peter Lanzani, the actor who plays prosecutor Julio César Strassera pointed out that the film traveled “a long and very generous road” to get there and that it was “one party after another”, alluding to his good step in the different international festivals and in the awards season.
He also highlighted the “tremendously humanistic approach” of the film that portrays the fight to prosecute the genocidal of the last civil-military dictatorship that the country lived through, he pointed out that the film “remembers those people who suffered” and remarked that “in the midst of this hubbub, we don’t forget that”
He also celebrated the support that the film has from Argentine society in general.
“We arrived in the vans that bring us and we had to wait a bit because they hadn’t opened and we were surprised that on the sidewalk in front there was a very large group of Argentines cheering us on with the national team shirt,” he said.
