Following the successful first season of True Detectives, the actors will star in a comedy for Apple TV+.
The protagonists of the successful first season of true detective, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelsonthey reunite once again on screen for a new comedy series.
AppleTV+ announced Tuesday that the actors and longtime friends will star in a half-hour scripted comedy for the streaming platform. Described as a “heartfelt love story of an odd couple” centering on the duo’s “strange and beautiful bond”, the untitled show will follow Harrelson as he and his family move in with McConaughey and their brood on his ranch in Texas, putting their friendship to the test.
The series comes from Emmy-winning creator, david westread (Schitt’s Creek), who will executive produce alongside McConaughey, Harrelson, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Matt Thunell.
McConaughey and Harrelson played the famous police partners in the first season of the gritty crime drama. true detective in 2014, although it was not the first time they shared the screen. They previously co-starred in the mockumentary welcome to hollywood 1998 satire edtv from 1999 and the 2008 sports comedy surfer dude.
McConaughey and Harrelson often go on holiday together, something they have described as a “friendship tour”, which last year included a trip to Dubrovnik to celebrate Harrelson’s birthday, where they paddle boarded together.
