Since the plan for the first projects of the new DC Universe protected by DC Studiosone of the heads of that division, James Gunnmentioned the possibility that Ben Affleck could join the franchise as director of one of its productions.
Apparently something happened along the way because a couple of months after Gunn’s claims, Affleck himself remarked that he is not interested in working in the new DC Universe for the movies.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood ReporterAffleck recalled his time as Batman in the DC movies and commented that after his terrible experience with the cinematographic edition of Justice Leaguehe was just able to decipher the Dark Knight in the movie of Flash.
“The Justice League experience, is the fact that those stories became a bit repetitive for me and less interesting. Yeah, I finally figured out how to play that character (Batman) and I did it on The Flash. For the five minutes I’m there, he’s really cool. A lot of it is just tone. You have to find out: What is your version of the person? Who’s the guy that fits what you can do? I tried to fit into a Batman. And by the way, I like a lot of the things we did, especially in (batman v superman),” Affleck said.
Thus, after proposing that one could “give a seminar on all the reasons” why Justice League (2017) is how not to make a movie, Affleck praised his collaborations with zack snyder.
“(Zack Snyder’s Justice League) is my highest rated movie on IMDb”said the actor. “Say what you want, it is the highest rated film of my career. I’ve never had a (film) go from rock bottom to pinnacle. Retroactively, it is a success. Suddenly, they congratulated me on the failure I was in. But he was going to direct Batman, and (Justice League [2017]) made me say, ‘I’m out. I don’t want to do any of this ever again’. I’m not the right one. That was the worst experience I’ve ever seen in a business that is full of shitty experiences. He broke my heart”.

Affleck had already pointed out that his bad experience in Justice League It was very detrimental to his health and now he reiterated that it influenced his problems with alcohol and disenchanted him with the world of superhero films.
“There was an idea that somebody (Joss Whedon) would come in like, ‘I’ll rescue them and we’ll do 60 days of shooting and I’ll rewrite what they’ve got. I have the secret’. And it was not the secret. That was hard. And I started drinking too much. He was back at the hotel in London, it was either that or jump out the window. And I thought, ‘This is not the life I want. My children are not here. I’m miserable’. I want to go to work and find something interesting to hold on to, instead of just wearing a rubber suit and standing in front of a computer screen most of the time and saying, ‘If this nuclear waste gets loose, we. ..’. Alright. I don’t patronize that or discount it, but I got to a point where I didn’t find it creatively satisfying,” he explained. “Plus, you’re sweaty and exhausted. And I thought, ‘I don’t want to be involved in this in any way. And I don’t want to waste any more of my life, of which I have a limited supply.’”
From then on, Affleck was asked if after his bad experience prior to Flash would direct a film for the new stage of DC adaptations driven by James Gunn and peter safran. But, contrary to what had been tested by DC Studios, the actor stated that this is not in his plans.
“I wouldn’t direct something for (James) Gunn DC. Absolutely not. I have nothing against James Gunn. He’s a nice guy, I’m sure he’s going to do a great job. I just wouldn’t want to come in and lead the way they’re doing. I’m not interested in that,” Affleck concluded.
Everything indicates that the last participation of Ben Affleck in the world of superheroes it will be with their participation in Flash It hits theaters June 15.
