The notable Brazilian artist arrives in Argentina as part of his “Meu Coco” tour.
The notable Brazilian artist Caetano Veloso will arrive in Buenos Aires and Rosario in June as part of the tour “My Coco” where the repertoire of his 2021 album coexists with classics from his career within the framework of a visual setting according to such a work.
“I am reaching 80 years of age. The general form of the show is also due to the pleasure of the almost post-pandemic return to the stage and the attention to my history in this art so loved and well cultivated by Brazilians -although my reservations about my talent for it have not dissipated-”, Veloso said in the press release announcing the visit.
A unique composer, poet, refined interpreter, performer and permanent agitator, Caetano is one of the unavoidable personalities and an inescapable reference in the popular culture of his country and of Latin America in the last half century.
In another note about these presentations in the country, the 80-year-old musician and composer said: “I try to unite pieces of the album with others that record historical moments of my work. But with the character of an almost cinematographic script that never leaves me when I project a show. I think of the sequence of songs as someone who is in front of a moviola – or an ‘editing’ application, which is what the editing is called today”.
“Thus, the distribution of new and well-known songs does not have the mere function of pleasing the spectators who want to hear live what they have learned on the new album and those who seek to try my already consecrated stuff. The criteria goes much further. The presence of something old but almost unknown -like some and not other songs from the album ‘Meu Coco’- sheds light on what the eventual union of an obvious success with an equally obvious and striking song from the new album means”, he reflected, giving new clues about his artistic character.
Veloso’s passage through Argentina has, for the moment, two planned functions: on Friday, June 9 at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires (with seats that will go on sale next Monday on the stadium’s website) and on Sunday the 11th at the Teatro El Círculo in Rosario.
