The singer and actress surpassed the reality TV star and businesswoman Kylie Jennerwho has 382 million followers and counting.
Gomez expressed her gratitude by sharing an Instagram post from her meeting with fans with the caption: “Wishing I could hug all 400 million of you”.
Although she holds the title of the most followed woman on Instagram, Cristiano Ronaldo it currently holds the title of the most followed account with 563 million followers.
After a four-year hiatus, Gomez returned to social media in January after deleting her social media account and later deciding to let her team manage the account. His decision to get rid of his Instagram was due to his poor relationship with the platform.
