Attendance at national cinemas grew by 80%

With more than 2 million viewers since its premiere four weeks ago, the movie animated “Super Mario Bros” decisively pulled the Ticketing in Argentina and turned April into the highest grossing month of the yearwith 3,893,849 tickets cut in local theaters, 80% more than during March when 2,160,483 tickets were issued.

In the balance of April in terms of box office, UIP was the most successful distributor of the month with 64% of ticket sales with titles like the one mentioned “Super Mario Bros”, “The Pope’s Exorcist”, “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves”, and “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish”.

For its part, in second place was Warner Bros, whose most successful films were the Argentine “La Extorsión”, “Evil Dead: The Awakening”, and “Air: the story behind the logo”, which accounted for 21% of tickets sold in theaters.

And in third place, the distributor BF Paris appears with 8% of the tickets, with productions such as “John Wick 4” and “La Ballena”.

In the April review, the aforementioned “Extortion”by Martino Zaidelis with Guillermo Francella, Pablo Rago and Andrea Frigerio, became the most watched Argentine film of the year so far, attracting 418,535 viewers.

With the figures published, the Ultracine consultancy also highlighted the good time of horror movies as for the interest generated in viewerswith titles like “Evil Dead: Awakening”, the fifth film in the cult franchise inaugurated by Sam Raimi in 1981, which cut 317,288 tickets and ranked third.

The path of “The Pope’s Exorcist”which brought 247,122 theatergoers, as did “13 Exorcisms,” with 56,537 viewers.

Lastly, among the highest grossing films with permanence on the billboard, are John Wick 4which has already passed half a million tickets and is the highest grossing of the saga; “The whale” which registers a cumulative 272,200 viewers; and “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves”which sold 85,641 tickets.
