The festival directors Sabine Gottesroither and Katharina Riedler spoke of an “unbroken and renewed joy in European cinema on the part of the audience”.
Five films from the program can be seen on the Kino VOD Club streaming platform until May 31st. A total of 139 feature, documentary and short films from 45 countries were shown, including 18 world premieres and 77 Austrian premieres. The drama “Chleb i sól” (“Bread and Salt”), which is based on true events, was awarded Best Feature Film. It is about the return of a budding pianist to the Polish countryside. “My ne zgasnemo – We Will Not Fade Away” about five Ukrainian teenagers from Donbass and “Silent Love” about a young Polish woman’s return to the countryside after the death of her mother were voted best documentaries.
