“I think I felt a little caged”Watson told the Financial Times in a recent interview. “What I found really difficult was that I had to go out and sell something that I didn’t really have a lot of control over. To stand in front of a movie and all the journalists can say, ‘How does this align with your point of view?’ It was very difficult having to be the face and spokesperson for things that I didn’t get involved in in the process.”

Watson’s last film was little women of Greta Gerwigwhich premiered in 2019 and co-starred with saoirse ronan, Florence Pugh, eliza scanlen, Laura Dern, Timothée Chalamet, Bob Odenkirk and meryl streepamong others.
Over the years, Watson starred in movies like The Circle, Beauty and the Beast and The Bling Ring. The star mentioned that she felt like she “had no voice,” which made her feel frustrated.
“I had nothing to say. And I started to realize that I just wanted to stand in front of things where if someone was going to criticize me, I could say, in a way that didn’t make me hate myself, ‘Yeah, I blew it. it was my decision, I should have done better,’” Watson added.
For now, Watson will continue her hiatus from acting, but says she’ll return at some point in the future.
“I’m happy to sit and wait for the next right thing”, said. “I love what I do. It’s finding a way to do it where I don’t have to split myself up into different faces and people. And I don’t want to switch to robot mode anymore. Does that make sense?”
