The American director Damien Chazelle will preside over the jury of the Venice Film Festival

Chazelle’s link to Venice is not new: she opened the cute event in 2016 with “La la Land” and in 2018 with “The First Man”, about Neil Armstrong.

American director, Damien Chazellewill preside over the jury of the competition of the 80th edition of the Venice Film Festival which will take place between August 30 and September 9, reported the international press.

“For 10 days each year, this city of the arts becomes a city of cinema, and I am honored to be invited to chair this year’s jury. I can’t wait to discover a new crop of great films,” said the 38-year-old director whose recognition began with the fime “Wiplash” in statements collected by the specialized site Variety.

In addition to Chazelle, the venice festival announced that the French director Alice Diopwhose first film “St. Omer” won the Gram Prize of the Jury of the Silver Lion and the Lion of the future, he will head the jury of the Luigi De Laurentiis Award for the best debut feature.

On the other hand, the Italian Jonas Carpignano known for the films“Mediterranean”, “A Ciambra” and “A Chiara”all launched from Cannes, will be the president of the jury of the Horizons section for more avant-garde works.
