Along with Iranian bassist Sam Minaie born in Reno, Nevada, and Swiss drummer Arturo Hnatek, Hamsyan will be playing at the Broadway Theater (1155 Corrientes Avenue) next Monday, May 22.
Of Armenian origin and musical maturation in the United States, Tigran Hamasyan burst onto the music scene with a mix of jazz, rock, elements of the traditional music of his country and other influences that have allowed him to reach a particular sound.
With “The call within” (2020), Hamasyan explores a more rocker side of jazz and proposes an intense sound and musical journey, where current traditions appear that combine poetics of contemporary jazz with Armenian musical airs and rock beats through tempos without breath that overlap much more observational moments.
