In an interview with the “New York Times” on the occasion of the film’s 20th anniversary, Curtis and Lohan (36) said they were both interested in a sequel. The studio hired writer Elyse Hollander to write the screenplay.
In the 2003 Disney comedy, Curtis played psychotherapist Tess Coleman, who fights constantly with her teenage daughter, Anna (Lohan). After eating magical fortune cookies, they switch bodies and suddenly have to make ends meet in each other’s lives – the mother at school, the daughter as a therapist. Freaky Friday is an adaptation of the 1972 novel of the same name by Mary Rodgers.
Curtis won an Oscar in March for her supporting role in the film Everything Everywhere All at Once. Also in March, Lohan announced that she and her husband, Bader Shammas, are expecting a child. Lohan was last seen in the Netflix comedy Falling for Christmas (2022). For several years before that, she had only had minor appearances or roles in cheap productions, such as 2019 in the horror thriller “Among the Shadows”.
