5th wedding anniversary of Harry and Meghan: The most beautiful pictures of the royal wedding

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have something to celebrate: five years ago they said “yes” at the altar of the chapel at Windsor Castle. And even if the two have always kept their wedding day very private, May 19th is an opportunity to look back on what is probably the most beautiful wedding of 2018. You can see the most moving moments in the photo gallery above.

Prince Harry and the former “Suits” star met through a mutual friend in the summer of 2016. Harry had previously spotted Meghan in a video on Instagram with a friend. “With dog ears, his first impression of me,” says Meghan in the Netflix documentary “Harry & Meghan”, which was released in December last year. The mutual friend then told her that Harry had asked about her.

love at first sight

Both had previously known next to nothing about each other, they say. Meghan did not google Prince Harry, but rather looked at his Instagram profile. “I thought I’d rather see his feed. Not what anyone else says about him, but what he posts about himself,” she reveals. And Prince Harry had never heard of Meghan before Instagram and hadn’t seen a episode of “Suits”. When they first met, it sparked straight away.

A lot has happened since then. The two announced their engagement in November 2017 and married six months later. The wedding took place on Saturday May 19, 2018. After the wedding ceremony at St George’s Church, the couple took a carriage ride through Windsor. Afterwards, all guests celebrated at a reception in St. George’s Hall, later in the evening King Charles III. then enter the chosen circle to the wedding reception at Frogmore House.

Celebrity guests like George Clooney and Elton John

The guest list for the event was not only long, but also prominent. In addition to members of the royal family, stars like George Clooney, Serena Williams and Elton John came to the wedding. The latter even performed as a live act at the wedding reception. In addition, 2,640 members of the public were able to witness the wedding at Windsor Castle up close.

Barely a year after their marriage, their first child, son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, was born on May 6, 2019. Sister Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, who was born on June 4, 2021, followed two years later. However, due to their emigration to the USA, Lilibet was born in the United States and not in Great Britain. Following the release of their revealing documentary and Prince Harry memoir in early 2023, the family has gone silent. They seem to have found happiness away from the public eye.
