Jennifer Lopez feels guilty about her children

Jennifer Lopez’s twins have been in the public eye since birth. The singer and actress knows her children suffer because of it: “I did that to them.”

Jennifer Lopez has two children with singer Marc Anthony, to whom she was married from 2004 to 2011. The twins Max and Emme are now 15 years old – and used to growing up as the children of famous parents. The singer and actress is therefore plagued by feelings of guilt.

“I haven’t spoken to them much about it, but it’s just starting to let me know how people treat them,” Lopez said in an interview with Audacy. The 53-year-old is bothered by the fact that her children are constantly being “judged by strangers”. “Being the kid of famous parents isn’t exactly something that a lot of people understand. I feel sorry for them because it wasn’t a choice. I did that to them,” Lopez said.

Jennifer Lopez: Your children are always in the public eye

Her twins share the fate of many children of famous parents: they are often viewed only in the context of their father and/or mother, not as personalities in their own right. They are also in the public eye from an early age, are followed by paparazzi or witness their parents being torn apart by the media. “It doesn’t show who they are. And I think that’s really hard for them. I’d like to protect them from that,” explains Jennifer Lopez. Your children would know that they were always the focus.

Jennifer Lopez has been married to fellow actor Ben Affleck since last summer, to whom she was engaged before marrying Marc Anthony. Affleck has three teenage children from his marriage to Jennifer Garner. Life with five teenagers is “a challenge,” Lopez recently admitted. Her new film is also about the life of a mother: she recently appeared in “The Mother” on Netflix.
