Ludwig Prince of Bavaria and Sophie-Alexandra Evekink are getting married and there is a lot of excitement – not only for the newlyweds and their family. After all, the groom comes from the House of Wittelsbach.
Things get romantic in Munich on Saturday: Ludwig Prince of Bavaria, scion of the former Bavarian ruling house of the Wittelsbachs, and Sophie-Alexandra Evekink celebrate their church wedding in the Theatinerkirche. The Archbishop of Munich and Cardinal Reinhard Marx will marry the couple at the service with around 1000 guests. The civil wedding was already at the end of December.
Deputations from Bavarian mountain riflemen as well as traditional costume clubs and flower children from all over Bavaria are also expected. After the wedding, Franz Duke of Bavaria, head of the House of Wittelsbach, invites you to a reception at Nymphenburg Palace. Star chef Jan Hartwig is responsible for the wedding menu in the evening at Schleissheim Castle – there is, among other things, an asparagus tart that is modeled on a rose.
The groom from the Wittelsbach family is the great-grandson of the last King of Bavaria, Ludwig III. He studied law and is, among other things, a member of the board of the Nymphenburg Aid Foundation. His bride is a political and criminal scientist from a Dutch-Canadian family. Both are involved in development aid.
Many onlookers are also expected to attend the celebrations. In addition, the House of Bavaria promises all interested parties “impressions of the preparations and directly from the church” on platforms such as Instagram and Facebook as well as on the website. And the Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) shows a special program from 7 p.m.
