Open the 4th edition of Argentina Key Titles, a program that disseminates the national publishing industry

Promoted from the confluence between public and private institutions, the fourth edition of the “Argentina Key Titles” program seeks to select a corpus of books published in 2022 and so far in 2023 whose rights are available to be translated into English and thus facilitate their international circulation. .

The “Argentina Key Titles” catalog is used throughout the year and is promoted through Argentine embassies abroad in order to reach interested agents and/or stakeholders in the sector. It is presented in Spanish and English (the lingua franca of the rights acquisition sector).

The books selected for the project will participate in the stands of Argentina at the Bologna Fair (in the case of children and youth); Frankfurt; Guadalajara; Buenos Aires and, in addition, they will have visibility on www.argentinakeytitles.org.

For the last four years, the initiative has been articulated by the Directorate of Cultural Affairs of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, the Argentine Book Chamber, and the Argentine Investment and International Trade Agency, as part of the Argentine Book Plan.

The deadline for submitting proposals will be until June 9, 2023, and only titles published between January 1, 2022 and April 30, 2023, by Argentine authors and with Argentine ISBN will be accepted. In addition, the organizers clarified that only one title per category may be submitted and apply to up to four categories per publisher.

The final selection will be made by a jury made up of the Directorate of Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship.

Selected titles will be announced on June 30.

Those who want to register titles must complete this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1l-gaMnd10ASnQlIGJu3VBtjzl6dn4KWMltjGJvcySVU/prefill.

Those selected will have a free translation of a fragment of the book and, in addition, they will be pre-selected to obtain support from the South Program, in case of arousing purchasing interest from foreign publishers.

Last year, in its third edition, “Argentina Key Titles”, made known the diversity of the national literary production through some thirty titles -from Hebe Uhart or Sylvia Molloy to Horacio González- that were translated into English and promoted among foreign literary agents and exhibited at international events such as the Frankfurt Book Fair.
