Kim Kardashian has built an empire over the past few years. Reality show, a fashion company, cosmetics, brand partnerships – the 42-year-old earns a golden nose. But at the end of the day, she still seems to face challenges that most single parents might be familiar with.

“There’s nothing that can prepare you for it,” she says. “Two hours of madness” would be waiting for her every morning: “I always have to do one of my daughters’ hair and it has to be perfect, and then I have to put the other one’s shoes on and then they all need you,” she said first in the podcast “On Purpose” with Jay Shetty. “I would say that being a parent has taught me the most about myself. It has been the most challenging. There are sometimes nights when I cry myself to sleep,” Kardashian revealed.

Because of course Kardashian is mostly a single parent as a divorcee and bears a lot of responsibility for her four children with rapper Kanye West. But it’s not like she doesn’t have help. “She has nannies and a lot of support compared to the average woman, and yet she complains. She’s not the average working-class woman struggling with ‘everything’. 100 percent of us would trade places with her. Money carries a lot contribute to the progress and functionality of life,” commented one user under the video.

“Kim has four nannies, one for each child. (…) Nannies raise their children. She needs to stop trying to pretend to be middle class,” complained another. The topic of motherhood is a sensitive one in itself, which is why Kardashian’s statements are met with controversy. But among the many comments there are also many positive ones. Because most viewers seem to appreciate Kardashian for her candor. “I love the parental transparency – it’s really a tough job, especially for single parents,” wrote one viewer. “She’s human, yes her life is different, her experiences are different, but she’s still going through what we’re going through mentally,” said another.
Most parents would probably agree with a statement by the entrepreneur: “It’s the most demanding and at the same time the most rewarding job on this planet.”
