Nelly Furtado announces new music after a lengthy hiatus and reveals she was diagnosed with ADHD 18 months ago.
In the early 2000s she was one of the most successful singers in the world, and a whole generation hummed her songs. Now, after several years of radio silence, Nelly Furtado (44) is back with professional and health news.
reveals the Canadian with Portuguese roots: “I was diagnosed with ADHD 18 months ago. I guess I’ve had it all my life, but since I was a kid playing instruments six days a week, it stayed under control.”
She continues: “I’m the inattentive type, not the hyperactive type. I think it’s good that I didn’t know all these years. I think I’m mature enough today not to be overly dramatic about the diagnosis react. I’m more looking for solutions.”
She has recorded over 100 new songs
It helps her especially to go to the dance studio and work on choreographies: “I find that this discipline really helps my brain.” It’s a natural way to deal with attention deficit disorder.
However, the mother of one daughter also has good news for her fans: “I have so much new music! I’ve recorded over 100 songs in the last year and a half and I can’t wait to introduce them!” It is not yet clear when exactly she will release a new album.
