What is Futurama about?

Despite its setting in the distant future, the series is famous for its satirical commentary on life in the present. The series follows Phillip J. Fry (Billy West), a New York pizza delivery man who is accidentally frozen in 1999 and thawed in the year 3000. In this surprising “new” New York City, Phillip befriends the robot Bender (John DiMaggio), a heavy drinker, and falls in love with the cyclops Leela (katey sagal). The trio find work at the Planet Express Delivery Company, founded by Professor Hubert Farnsworth, a descendant relative of Fry. Joined by accountant Hermes Conrad, his assistant Amy Wong, and alien lobster Dr. John Zoidberg, they embark on exciting adventures that take them to all corners of the universe.
