Khloé Kardashian: Surrogacy was so hard for her

Many Hollywood stars have their children born via surrogate mothers. But hardly a woman talks about how it feels when she suddenly holds a baby in her arms that she did not carry. It is all the more remarkable that reality star Khloé Kardashian (38) openly comments on this in the new season “The Kardashians”. She said, “I wish someone was honest about surrogacy.” She admitted feeling “less connected” to her newborn son, Tatum. She also felt guilty about the surrogate mother.

Birth as a “transactional process”

In the first episode of the third season of the Hulu reality show, the 38-year-old spoke about the topic with her sister Kim Kardashian, 42, and Scott Disick, 39, her sister Kourtney’s, 44, ex. The entire surrogacy process was “difficult” and “tough” for her. “It was insane. It’s just the weirdest thing.” She only really realized everything when she was called to the hospital to give birth. “I think that’s the first time I really registered it along the way,” she explains. However, her feelings had “nothing to do with the baby” but rather with the circumstances.

She just thought, “Okay, we’re having a baby and this is my son and I’m taking him home.” The founder of the label “Good American” describes the delivery of the child to her immediately after the caesarean section as a “transactional process” that was not easy for her to grasp. “I was definitely in shock from my entire experience. I felt really guilty because this woman had just had my baby and I’m taking the baby and going to another room.”

She feels ‘less connected’ to her son

She also admitted when asked by Scott Disick that she felt “less connected” to her son. However, she was told that it could take some time. Her sister Kim, on the other hand, found it “easy” to connect with her two younger children. They were also born to a surrogate mother. “I wish someone would be honest about surrogacy and the difference in it. It’s just very different,” said Khloé Kardashian, who revealed her son’s name for the first time in the season opener.

With basketball player Tristan Thompson (32) she also has daughter True (5), who she carried herself. The couple had a tumultuous on-off relationship. He is said to have cheated on her several times. Son Tatum was born at the end of July 2022. By that time, his parents had already separated for good. Because shortly after the embryo transfer, Kardashian learned that Thompson had fathered a son with a fitness model.
