Hugh Grant takes British tabloid newspaper The Sun to court

This accusation was supported by the judge Timothy Fancourtwho confirmed that the dispute must be resolved in a trial scheduled for January.

The 62-year-old actor alleges that the British newspaper, owned by the News Group Newspapers (NGN)he hired private detectives to spy on him, including robberies, trespassing for information, and phone hacking.

“It is imperative that the truth be revealed about the tactics employed by The Sun,” Grant said, confirming the news of the trial. This case goes far beyond simple wiretaps, it is a direct intrusion into my privacy and security.”

Grant claimed that agents dispatched by The Sun even broke into his apartment and planted a tracking device in his car.

He also said that the newspaper used private investigators to enter addresses linked to his film production company and his ex-girlfriend, the model and actress liz hurleyduring the 2000s.

In addition, he said his phone was tapped and his voicemails hacked, in an attempt to unearth stories about his private life.

According to Judge Fancourt, Grant’s claims about the phone hacking will not be among the issues heard in court because they were filed too late.
