On June 7th, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz under its chief conductor Markus Poschner will give its first concert in the Mariendom in Linz, following in the footsteps of its namesake.
With Bruckner’s “Fourth”, the Romantic, it supports the “Pro Mariendom” initiative for the renovation of the cathedral. For Poschner, “the infinity of space” is inscribed in the “Fourth”, “which materializes in stone”, Poschner justifies his choice of the “Romantic” in E flat major WAB 104 (version 1878/80).
In order to avoid the pitfalls of cathedral acoustics, the son of a church musician has another solution in mind in addition to his expert conducting: “As many visitors as possible”, he boldly invites to the sacred halls, the renovation of which is progressing. The tower work should be completed by autumn, and the windows in Schlierbach are currently being renovated. The “Pro Mariendom” initiative will continue until the end of 2024.
