Texts, essays and notes published by the literary magazine Hispanamerica about Jorge Luis Borges are part of the anniversary number for the 50 years of existence of the publication, which will be presented next Saturday at the National Library with the participation of Juan Sasturain, Saúl Sosnowski, Germán Álvarez and Laura Rosato, Beatriz Sarlo, María Negroni, Betina González, Roxana Patiño and Luisa Valenzuelawithin the framework of the Borges Conference 2023.
Since its foundation in 1972, by Saul SosnowskiHispamérica has emerged as an independent magazine that records the various manifestations of Hispanic American literary production.
Under the name “Borges in Hispamérica”, the magazine includes in this edition “most of the texts, essays and notes that we published about Borges and also an interview that I did with him,” Sosnowski explained in a statement.
Meeting to celebrate 50 years of Hispamérica
Next Saturday, “Beatriz Sarlo is going to talk about the period covered by the magazine, María Negroni about poetry, Betina González about the fiction that we publish in Hispamérica and Roxana Patiño about the publication as an archive”he added.
While, Daniela Bulansky will present the magazine’s search engine and the closure will be in charge of Luisa Valenzuela.
“We had already celebrated the first 25 years of the magazine at the National Library in a massive congress, so now celebrating the 50th anniversary is wonderful,” said the director of the publication.
Through its sections of essays, interviews, poetry, fiction, critical notes, theater, workshops, documents, recoveries and the series “Los marginalados”, Hispamérica gathers the most notorious voices of the continent’s literature, as well as those contemporary, emerging and others unknown.
The meeting will take place at 5:00 p.m., in the Jorge Luis Borges auditorium, of the Library, located at Agüero 2,502, in the City of Buenos Aires.
