Ex-soccer national player Per Mertesacker has taken on an honorary sponsorship for giraffes. On Saturday, Hanover Zoo awarded the Per Mertesacker Foundation sponsorship for the Rothschild giraffes. For years, the park and the foundation have been supporting each other in the areas of integration and learning support, environmental protection and species protection – for the future of the children, as the zoo announced.
The former professional soccer player from Hannover 96 and Werder Bremen is committed to the social integration of children in the Hannover region. His attention is focused on adolescents from socially disadvantaged families, with a learning disability or a migration background. Excursions are organized and children receive individual care.
