Singer Florence Welch had to undergo life-saving surgery, as she has now announced. But what is the reason?
Florence And The Machine singer Florence Welch, who celebrates her 37th birthday today, August 28, apparently almost didn’t see it. After she had to cancel her appearances at Rock en Seine in Paris and most recently at the Zurich Open-Air Festival on Friday evening due to health reasons, the musician now revealed the serious reasons.
she tells of a life-saving operation that she had to undergo after she was forced to cancel some concerts. “For reasons I don’t really feel strong enough to tell yet, I had to have emergency surgery,” she told her followers on Sunday. “It saved my life,” she added.
Great understanding from the fans
The fans react with understanding. Loving comments can be found under her post: “I’m really glad that you’re doing better now, even if I would have liked to see you in Belgium, take care of yourself,” writes one. Another: “You don’t have to tell us what happened, okay? As always. It’s your life and it’s your pain and you don’t owe us an explanation or sharing something only you can feel! Your health is the most important thing, not just physically but mentally. I love you SO SO much and you can never imagine how relieved I am to hear from you. Lots of love.”
Health problems for a long time
, Florence Welch revealed just six days ago that an X-ray had shown that she was “dancing on a broken foot”, thereby justifying her concert cancellations in Paris and Zurich. She originally broke her foot performing at London’s O2 in November and had to postpone her tour dates, leaving her “heartbroken” at the time.
In her latest post, she promised that she would keep her last two “Dance Fever” tour dates in Lisbon and Malaga in September. But she added: “Maybe I don’t jump that much, but you guys can do that for me.”
Welch – whose hits include “Shake It Out” and “Dog Days Are Over” – canceled two festival appearances in 2012 to avoid permanently damaging her voice.
