Rapper: Eminem bans Republicans from rapping his songs

Politicians in the USA like to use songs by popular pop musicians during campaign appearances. Rapper Eminem is now taking action against this.

Rapper Eminem has asked US presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy to stop rapping his songs in the Republican primary. According to US media reports, the US musician asked the responsible copyright company BMI to withdraw the license for the use of his music from Ramaswamy’s campaign.

“This letter serves as a notification that the Eminem works are excluded from the license agreement with immediate effect,” says a letter from the BMI to Ramaswamy’s campaign attorney dated August 23, first published by the British “Daily Mail”.

Almost two weeks earlier, videos had been circulating online of the Republican rapping to Eminem’s song “Lose Yourself” at an event in Iowa. The 38-year-old biotech entrepreneur has gained support among Republican voters in recent weeks and is seen as a surprise from the party’s primary campaign so far. In polls, however, ex-President Donald Trump is far ahead of all other Republican presidential candidates.

Ramaswamy himself reacted calmly to the warning. “Will the real Slim Shady stand up, please? He didn’t just say what I think he said, did he?” was known by the name Twitter. However, a spokeswoman for Ramaswamy reportedly said the campaign would honor requests to stop using Eminem’s music.
