Due to constant rain, the “Burning Man” festival in the Nevada desert becomes a mud fight. While numerous fans are stuck, Chris Rock and Diplo made it off the site.
Normally, “Burning Man” fans celebrate under the Nevada sun. But not this year. The festival in the US state is currently becoming a mud fight. It’s raining non-stop, so much that visitors are stuck on the festival grounds. Organizers even called on guests on Saturday to “save food, water and fuel” and seek shelter in a “warm, safe place.” The rain was expected to continue until Sunday evening.

At least two celebrities were also there. Musician Diplo documented his adventurous escape from the flooded area on Instagram. He waded six miles through the mud with comedian Chris Rock. “I literally walked the curb for hours with my thumbs out because I have a show in DC tonight and didn’t want to let you guys down,” Diplo wrote on Instagram.

At some point, the two stars were lucky: another festival visitor collected them and other stranded people with his pick-up truck. Chris Rock’s biggest wish as he sits in the back of the truck? “Now if I have a cold brew [Kaffeegetränk, Anm. d. Red] could have,” the 58-year-old wishes while the wind blew around his ears.
Festival guests are stuck
The “Burning Man” festival in the US state of Nevada is the most important music and cultural event for many festival fans around the world. Every year, thousands of people make the pilgrimage to the Black Rock City compound to celebrate music, community, spirituality and love – most accompanied by the sun and heat. But not this year. Heavy rains make the terrain almost impassable. Those who made it are stuck between stalls and caravans. The organizers on X (formerly Twitter) asked new visitors not to drive to the site under any circumstances. The Washoe County Sheriff announced on Saturday that all access to the site was closed.
Organizers asked residents of Black Rock City, a desert town built during the week-long festival, to conserve food and water. A temporary airport will also remain closed, it said on Saturday.
