Your own success does not cause any pressure, but “it is a reward and an incentive in one,” says Posthof music director Gernot Kremser. Together with his managing director colleague who is responsible for theater, cabaret, dance and literature Willy Steiner Last season achieved a record result of more than 116,500 visitors at 218 individual events. The new edition of the FrischLuft OpenAir series in the summer months alone was visited by 16,000 guests.

The Posthof success has its roots in the seductive balance between interesting new discoveries and a respectable star density. It is this pearl concept that Kremser and Steiner use to thread all their divisions. Accordingly, the two are tackling the 40th season of the contemporary culture institution: from hip-hop pop Mono & Nikitaman about the cabaret season opening Magda Leebs Program “Aufpudeln” (September 15th) about the 30th birthday party of the Linz hip-hop legends Texta (September 16th, the OÖN will report in detail tomorrow) until the start of the “Ahoy! Pop” festival Element of Crime (September 20th), followed by the electro “Everyman” theater spectacle with the acting warhorse Philipp Hochmair and Razelli RMX (9/29).

From metal to literature
The Posthof’s lack of genre boundaries is also underlined by performances by jazz greats Rebekah Bakken (10/4) and saxophone icon Candy Dulfer (November 25th) and the original Australian street musician Benjamin Stanford alias DubFX (October 12th), who as a soloist heaves an entire band onto the stage with beatboxing and live looping. And then there are the New York metal legends Life of Agony (11/13) among other things Hubert von Goisern velvet Lungau Big Band (11/17) and actress Verena Altenberger (Reading of Ingeborg Bachmann’s “Undine goes” and “Ring of the Nibelungs”/December 4th), then all ends of the cultural food chain are nibbled.

The Posthof success has also attracted commercial partners: The fashion label “Eisbär” from Feldkirchen/Donau is now presenting Posthof hats made from merino wool. A coffee partnership was concluded with Segafredo. The “AK Cultural Month of November” campaign will continue for Chamber of Labor members – from November 1st to 30th, each ticket costs ten euros.

To mark the anniversary, there is free entry to the “Ahoy! Liveurope” kick-off on November 1st for all AK members: the up-and-coming ones are playing Wolf & Moon (D/Nl), Laser Viking (Tch), who was born in Russia, grew up in the Czech Republic and lives in London Aiko; Alex Kelman (born in Siberia, lives in Bratislava); Home Plants (Por), badfocus (Tch), Curious child (Ung) and Castilho (Por). Never heard? Then it’s time – at the Linzer Posthof.
