King Carl Gustaf’s Golden Jubilee is coming up this weekend and will be celebrated in a big way in Stockholm. Sweden’s longest-reigning king is popular with the people, even if his record after 50 years on the throne is rather average.
This weekend the red carpets will once again be rolled out in front of Stockholm Palace because Carl XVI. Gustaf is celebrating his 50th anniversary as Sweden’s head of state. The Court Marshal’s Office has been planning for this big royal occasion for months, because of course, in addition to a lot of Swedish dignitaries, many guests from other European monarchies are also expected to attend the celebrations on September 15th and 16th.
