However, as the weekly newspaper “Falter” reported in its “Vienna newsletter” on Tuesday, some of the cinema-goers were probably “phantom visitors”. Cineplexx employees reported to the weekly newspaper that tickets had been booked but seats were empty. The rental company Opus-R booked the seats itself. According to the ticket makers, hardly any guests came, reported the “Falter”.

In response to APA’s request, Cineplexx confirmed that there are special tariffs for group bookings. From a certain number of tickets, companies, clubs, etc. can buy tickets for their employees or members at a reduced price, explained a Cineplexx spokesman: “The company Opus-R has also made use of this.” Cineplexx handles the purchases and makes the halls and films available. “What happens to the purchased tickets and who uses them is entirely the responsibility of the buyer.”

The rental company Opus-R told the APA that a contingent of tickets had been purchased “as a precautionary measure” for several planned promotional campaigns and PR events. It is not known exactly which numbers the “butterfly” refers to. However, it is “not surprising” that the weekly newspaper “Falter” is making such accusations, as it acts as a kind of “media partner” for the second short film, “Project Ballhausplatz”, criticized Opus-R managing director Christian Jantscha: “Not “Lastly, also because director Kurt Langbein had already made false accusations against Opus-R in advance regarding the financing of our film and he had already made TV and cinema productions with Falter in the past.” It is regrettable that defamation methods are now also being used in the film industry.

4067 visitors

After the opening weekend, the production company Pongo Film, citing the analysis service Comscore, reported that 4,067 visitors had seen “Kurz – The Film” in the cinema. On Saturday of the first weekend, the documentary had its busiest day with 1,656 visitors. The producers and the distributor were “very satisfied”.
