What Beckham is about
The series synopsis reads: “Beckham, a four-part documentary series, tells the inside story of a global football star and cultural icon. “David Beckham is one of the best-known names on the planet, but few people know who he really is.”


“From his humble working class origins in east London, his drive and determination to win, and the battle to find balance between ambition, love and family, David’s story is full of immense highs and lows. “The series takes you on that roller coaster and builds a surprising, personal and definitive story of one of the most recognizable and scrutinized athletes of all time.”

As shown in the trailer, the series features interviews with his wife Victoria Beckhamthe former coach of Manchester United Alex Ferguson and his former colleagues Rio Ferdinand and Roy Keane.
Beckham It also addresses the famous “bootgate” scandal of 2003, when the footballer was hit in the face by a button thrown by Ferguson. Other themes shown include the media circus surrounding his personal life and the red card he received during the England vs. Argentina in the 1998 World Cup.
The series is produced by John Battsekbest known for his work on the acclaimed documentaries One Day In September and Searching For Sugar Man.
Beckham will premiere on October 4 on Netflix.
